Hassan Tower

Hassan Tower

★ 4.6

experience

“Next stop, the Hassan Tower. I walked here from the Kasbah and honestly, walking is the way to go... The Hassan Tower was started in the 12th century and was meant to be the tallest minaret in the world, but it was never finished. Even unfinished, it still dominates the skyline.”

“Right next to it is the Mosque Mausoleum of Muhammad V where the king and his sons are buried. Inside, there's a beautiful blue dome designed by the Moroccan architect Pierre Perrault. It's stunning and such a calm elegant space that makes you just stop and admire it.”

Chellah Ruins

Chellah Ruins

★ 4.5

experience

“As I continue my walk through Rabat, I headed to Chellah. This place really makes the city stand out. It's a mix of Roman ruins and medieval Islamic structures and every wall and arch tells a story. Look up and there's storks everywhere like little guardians of the ruins. One of the best things about walking through Chellah is this noise from the birds. It's definitely worth the 70 dirhams and it's been the highlight of my trip so far.”

Andalusian Gardens

Andalusian Gardens

★ 4.6

experience

“For the best experience, start at the Andalusian Gardens at the bottom and walk up through the gardens to the Kasbah entrance. Way prettier than walking straight in. And the best part, entry is completely free. We are going to have a fresh orange from the Andalusian Garden.”

“Before we explore the Medina, here's where I stayed, Dar Bennani's Medina. The alleyway leading up to it is actually really popular on Instagram. There were loads of people taking photos when I arrived. It's very basic but perfect for what I needed as a solo traveler.”

Mohammed VI Tower

“And if you glance out, you see Rabat's modern side, the Mohammed VI Tower soaring into the sky. Old and new side by side, it's a striking contrast.”

“And also you can go to the King's Palace. King's Palace. It's open until 5 o'clock. And to see it was built in in the 19th century. It was built in 19th century. The king doesn't live there. It's also for like reception and the office for the king. And for his like family they use it but they”

Kasbah of the Udayas

Kasbah of the Udayas

experience

“Let's start here at the Kasbah of the Udayas... Once you're inside, it's all blue and white streets, narrow alleys, colorful doors full of charm at every turn. And beyond the walls, the Atlantic Ocean stretches out as far as the eye can see. The views from the Kasbah are stunning, peaceful, charming. Honestly, a spot you could wander for hours without noticing time fly by.”

Rabat Medina

“Now let's have a wander through the Medina. Because Rabat is the capital, I was expecting it to be hectic and busy and it is. narrow streets, colorful stalls, vendors calling out, and the smell of spices and fresh bread everywhere. It's alive. But, there's also a surprising hint of calm, little side alleys, quiet squares, and tucked away corners. The Medina really shows you the heart of Rabat, full of energy, full of life, yet with pockets of tranquility tucked in between.”
