About Koh Samui
Koh Samui is more developed and easier to reach than Thailand's smaller islands, with resort infrastructure that makes it a genuine base rather than a rough backpacker stop. Chaweng and Lamai beaches carry the nightlife; the island's quieter east and south coasts are where the better food and fewer crowds actually are. Ferries connect onward to Koh Phangan and Koh Tao easily.
