Osaka is Japan's food city by reputation and by fact — Dotonbori's neon canal-front is built entirely around eating on foot, from takoyaki stalls to standing kushikatsu bars. It's also blunter and friendlier than Tokyo, less precious about rules. Most of what's worth eating here has no English menu and doesn't need one.
