About Split
Split's old town is built literally inside the ruins of a Roman emperor's retirement palace — Diocletian's Palace isn't a separate attraction, it's the street grid people live and eat in. It's also the main ferry hub for Hvar, Brač and Vis, so most trips treat it as a base rather than the whole stop, which undersells it.
