Kalare Night Bazaar
★ 4.3shopping
“This is Kalare Night Market. It’s pretty much what you’d expect: rows of stalls, plenty of food and drink, and a decent atmosphere.”
หมูทอดดึกดำบรรพ์ (Ancient Fried Pork)
★ 4.6restaurant
“We crossed the river to try out a place serving Lanna food. Trust us, it’s well worth the walk. First night in Chiang Mai, and this is our first dinner... I looked online and found this place recommended on an old Reddit thread... I'm glad we walked the extra 20 minutes to find this place. Everything seems very good... I'm really pleased. I'm glad we didn't settle for that night market. We went a bit further and found something good.”
Khao Soi Islam Restaurant
★ 4.4restaurant
“We’re at Khao Soi Islam restaurant in the town... So, khao soi for breakfast. We got beef and chicken. Curry coconut broth, meat, noodles, and deep-fried noodles on top... Our verdict? First khao soi experience in Chiang Mai. Pretty good. Hard to compare since it’s our first here. The broth was lightly seasoned, so I added fish sauce. Needed a little more salt for me. Still nice. Good that they used coconut milk not cream, because by the end it was rich enough. Not bland, there are a lot of flavours, but it needed seasoning.”
Yellow Bean Noodle (Halal Chinese)
★ 5.0restaurant
“I found this place on Google. It’s close to where we had the khao soi yesterday. It’s Halal Street... I really wanted to try pea soup with noodles, but that wasn’t available. Instead we got pea tofu salad... It looks appetising. First taste: it’s kind of bouncy. Firmer than jelly, but pleasingly boingy. The flavours are good: spice, fried garlic, bean sprouts, coriander... Nice flavours. Refreshing as a cold dish in the heat.”
Jia Tong Heng
★ 4.4restaurant
“Dinner at Jia Tong Heng – Cantonese & Teochew dishes from Guangdong.”
Warorot Market
★ 4.4shopping
“We started off here at Warorot Market. First Chiang Mai sausage in Chiang Mai. Is it very spicy? It's not killer spicy. There is spice, but it’s very fragrant. You’ve got lemongrass, lime leaves in it. It's really tasty. It’s a nice coarse grind. It doesn’t seem overly fatty. It’s got a nice snap on the skin as well. That is a very good snack.”
