BLU Gelateria

BLU Gelateria

★ 4.7

cafe

“We finished things off in Blu il gelato del barrio. They had a whole bunch of different artisanal ice creams that you could choose from, but I went for two local flavors: lucuma, tied for my favorite fruit in Peru, and then another flavor called Meña y menta, which is Peruvian mint and chocolate. If you're looking to try local flavors, go for those two.”

“We've kicked off the food tour by trying classic Peruvian fruits, probably my favorite thing to do when I'm in Peru. We had cherimoya, two different kinds of passion fruit, and gooseberries, not to mention three types of chocolate. Really, really fun way to kick things off on a sweet note.”

Luna Nueva

Luna Nueva

★ 4.8

cafe

“For breakfast guys we went to Luna Nueva where we kicked things off with Peruvian coffee. It was fascinating because we got to learn about the roasting procedure. I love Peruvian coffee but the star of the show was actually the empanadas, chicken and corn empanadas, so tasty, the best part was the buttery exterior, oh my gosh that was so good.”

Ayahuasca

Ayahuasca

★ 4.5

restaurant

“We have arrived at this beautiful property called Ayahuasca. This used to be a colonial home, has now been turned into a restaurant/art. We're coming here to try two main dishes: lomo saltado and also anticuchos for lunch. That cooking demonstration was absolutely insane, it was so cool to see how the lomo saltado especially was prepared. That's a Peruvian Chinese dish that is really, really tasty and definitely worth trying if you come to Lima.”

Bridge of Sighs

Bridge of Sighs

★ 4.6

experience

“One other little funny quirk I should mention about Barranco is that there is a place, a tourist attraction called the Bridge of Sighs. What you're supposed to do is hold your breath as you go across the bridge and make a wish. It's a funny little quirky thing you can do here to make a wish and to create a memory in this neighborhood.”

Republica del Pisco

“What you could say was our second lunch we had at a place called Republica del Pisco. This place actually specializes in seafood and specifically ceviche. We started off with a colorful welcome drink and also causa, an appetizer I highly recommend you try in Peru. Then we had a demonstration of how ceviche is made, and guys, if there's one dish that I could eat in Lima day after day after day, it is ceviche, it's my absolute favorite Peruvian dish.”

Juanito Barranco

bar

“Any food tour in Lima is not complete without the national drink, the Pisco Sour. For that, we headed off to the oldest bar here in Barranco called Juanito, which means Little Juan. This is a third-generation drinking watering hole/tavern that's been around since 1937. What was so cool was it was actually the grandson who made the Pisco Sour for us, he's the one who showed everyone else on the tour exactly how the drink was made.”
