In their own words: “Admission here is free. Wu Changshuo was a master painter, calligrapher, and seal carver of the late Qing dynasty. This residence was built over a century ago, between 1914 and 1917. It blends Western and Chinese architectural elements. The floor tiles were so charming. This historic residence rests quietly beneath the towering skyscrapers of Lujiazui. The contrast makes it especially moving. It became one of my favorite spots of the trip. Look at the finely carved wooden door frames. You can’t help but stop and admire them. Take a closer look, you’ll find birds hidden in the patterns. Simply beautiful! The atmosphere here is calm, with only a few visitors around. Though it’s in a busy district, it truly feels like a hidden gem.”
